Canister Filter Blowing Air Bubbles

Also could be that intake thing where the filter is drawing in air bubbles from an airstone too close to. My guess is that its sucking in air somewhere.

Canister filter blowing air bubbles. Thus air built up in canister. This is more common an issue with canisters that dont self-prime themselves very well. It appears that the out valve was pushing water out of the canister faster than the in valve brought water in.

If its a brand new filter itll take a few weeks for beneficial bacteria to build up in your biomedia before your tank will stay clear. You need a glass canopy 30 x 12 a filter such as either the Magniflow 160 or Penguin 150 and one of the Fully Adjustible LED lights. Ive checked all the pipes and it doesnt seem to be sucking air in there.

If you changed the carbonor put in a mesh for nitrifying bacteria this could also have extra air. Most filters will self-bleed the air out through the return jets by blowing bubbles. As well if there is a bubbler near it bubbles catching on it and flowing off the side before going up I hope that makes sense may give the impression that air is coming from it.

Im not sure where else it could be sucking in some air. Every few seconds my newly set-up eheim 2262 is making a sort of hissing-fizzing sound and when its louder I can actually see some air bubbles shoot out of it. Whenever you fill or refill your 405 you should rock it and purposefully bump it on the bottom to dislodge air.

What happens when I se. If air is accumulating in the filter and possibly draining the pump out when you switch it off your pump will be sucking air but you may not have enough back pressure to bleed the air. Ive inspected that seal though and it looks perfect.

I would shut the filter down and make sure all your connections are super tight and there arent any leaks anywhere. Than reclip clips-----the air gets in there at the rubber connection to the tube ---so ribbed hose 1 in under water with connection. If you dont you will get a few bubbles once in a while for days after.

Im not sure if this would be classified as micro-bubbles cause Im pretty new to canister filters and Ive only heard them mentioned but. Perhaps between the motor head and body of the canister when you seal the two together. There are many pod options for this light so you can customize it to meet.

I took apart and reassembled the filter five times before I figured out that the canister itself had a hairline crack. Although water tight the canister is apparently not air tight. Any help would be awesome.

Long story short there is a leak. Doing this 4 or 5 times in the first hour will expel 99 of the air. Only put 8L or 2 gal in the can and plug it back in.

I am no expert on canister filters. From what I know with canister filter you should make sure that any connections on the suction side of the pump are submerged in water ie - i have an FX5 and they come with a grilled inlet then it connects to the hose that goes to the filter they said when you put it together to make sure the rubber connection is fully submersed so if it did leak a bit you are not sucking air. A break in the underground pipes will also leak when the filter is switched off.

By slowing the waters exit from the canister I reduced the air build up in it. If the filter needs servicing do it now if it doesnt break it down anyway and empty the water. It sounds like you may have too much air trapped in there or it is sucking air from a poor connection.

The bubbles could be from air getting into your filter from somewhere. It should unless theres a leak somewhere else sucking in air. Perhaps theres a gap in the seam.

Since it was off there head pressure on the filter that was able to push the water out. It will come out in clouds of bubbles. Center of the universe.

This air is then creating a pocket at the top of the filter which is then released every few minutes when this air bubble is large enough to reach the air siphon inside. The fix-----is to unclip the ribbed pipe on the intake hose----lowering the intake screen tube connector all the way under the water----wrap the ribbed pipe more around. So that the connection is under water.

I have a 6 month old Fluval 406 thats spewing tones of micro bubbles and I cant figure it out. As for the bubbles. My filter was an old one so I couldnt get a replacement part for it and had to trash the filter.
